THE SUFI WAY TO LOVE
The Sufis decipher, perceive and practise the tradition of Mohabbat ( Love/ prem) with their Khuda ( higher consciousness/ God). Their love is without the tarnished mind and hence lacks judgement and discrimination. The earthly plane of love which has all emotions of lust, attraction, approval and angst is a lower rung in the ladder of a stepping evolutionary journey but it has an immense possibility seed of awakening within it. In this earthly and humane dimension also, the meditative practice of love can be honed beautifully. (Ishq majadi).
As the heart opens to love and encompasses every being and everything, the Sufi raises himself by becoming dust to the love for God ( his beloved). This love then transmutes to divine love ( Ishq haqiqi). Complete surrender to his beloved dissolves his identity( khudi/ ego/aham/feeling of I) and in his subtle devotion, he lays himself at the altar of the beloved…giving up all ideas of possession and ownership. His prayer then becomes a dance to please the beloved rather than asking or begging for mundane worldly achievements or simply as an escape from the sufferings of his life.
“Is sohbet me kahan hai koi khayal?
Yahan to bus khumari hi dua hai….”
May we know and experience these states of dissolution and love with our beloved..
